ABOUT YOU / QUALIFICATIONS

  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • CABWI Diploma in Water or Wastewater Engineering
  • Engineering apprenticeship (C&G/EAL NVQ Level 3/4 or OAL FDEM Diploma)
  • Project management - Prince 2 or PMP
  • ILM level 3 or above.
  • NEBOSH General (achieve within 12 months).

SKILLS

  • Application of SHE legislation and procedures
  • Application of water treatment principals.
  • Interpretation and reading of estate layouts and P&ID’s.
  • Application of IT processes, Excel macros and functions, PowerPoint, AutoCAD.
  • Identify the organisation’s context and constraints that affect water treatment assets.
  • Develop and classify asset life-cycle plans including performance monitoring, business cases and activities.
  • Apply continuous improvement techniques and quantify asset, asset system and asset management activity-related risks; identify mitigation options.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The UK Water Treatment Manager will join a growing Central Engineering and Engineering Excellence Team in Bakkavor Group. You will support the Central Engineering, General Manager and take a lead role in driving the Engineering strategy across the wider Bakkavor Group. As the UK Water Treatment Manager, you will lead the water treatment processes and engineering systems to optimise the UK Bakkavor estate.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Take a lead role in the Engineering Strategy Pillars.
  • Identify wastewater and trade effluent treatment solutions for the relevant industrial manufacturing and/or process application, implementation, and management of solutions through either revenue or capital project workstreams.
  • Provide expert advice on regulatory compliance, trade effluent discharge and respective consents, develop and co-ordinate action plans to address identified gaps. Liaise with respective authorities as required.
  • Evaluate treatment plants to remove redundancies and optimise the process.
  • Evaluate and improve equipment maintenance plans to optimise performance and cost.
  • Be a specialist in chemical and biological treatments to deliver the minimum cost per m³ of wastewater discharged.
  • Cost effectively and reduce energy usage to achieve the required standard of wastewater.
  • Systematic audit of the group effluent plants key assets operation and maintenance. Ensure safe performance criteria are maintained or improved through scheduled reviews.
  • Develop a suite of key performance indicators that can be used at all levels within the business.
  • Support the management and selection of external suppliers, the setting of objectives for suppliers and performance measurement of suppliers within the context of the organisation’s asset management approach.
  • Review and challenge the sign-off any new energy/infrastructure requirements from capital projects.
  • You will support learning and development opportunities where required.
  • Administrative activities to support the delivery of the engineering strategy.
