JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

BD is seeking an experienced and driven Contracts Specialist to join our UKI team.
This role will operate across the BD business units with an initial focus on BD Life Sciences, specifically Integrated Diagnostics Solutions (IDS) and Biosciences (BDB) and specialising in managed service commercial contracting.
An integral role situated within the Contract Lifecyle Management function, you will partner with the wider CSO organisation and the Sales, Marketing and Support functions within the Life Sciences business units to create and deploy managed services solutions that may also include third party suppliers. The role is suited to an individual with direct experience of diagnostics and providing contracts to the NHS and similar organisations. Your working knowledge of contracts and services will aid pre-sales, tendering, contracting, implementation, and lifecycle management of existing and new customers.
This role is based out of Winnersh and we have 2 roles available.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field. Proven experience of managing managed service contracts, either within the industry or another sector, for at least 1 year. Experience in public procurement, administrative law, or the medical device industry is highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize several competing demands.

  • Able to engage with people at all levels, with a flexible attitude and ability to handle changing priorities.
  • Experience in supplier management, high-level negotiation, contract management, and contractual change management.
  • Knowledge of UK & Ireland (EU) public procurement legislation and policy.
  • Ability to create, negotiate, and utilize compliant contractual documentation.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Sound practical knowledge of commercial terms and conditions of contract.
  • Understanding of the NHS purchasing process and healthcare system procurement processes.
  • Understanding of BD Life Sciences products.
Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Prepare, draft, issue, and negotiate contractual documents from initiation to cessation, including Confidential Disclosure Agreements, Managed Service Contracts, Framework Agreements, Sub-Contractor Agreements, Novation Agreements, and Contract Change Variations.
  • Thoroughly review contracts to identify commercial risks and non-conformances, formulating plans to enhance revenue streams within existing agreements.
  • Ensure timely execution of all contracting opportunities, maintaining accurate records in SFDC and Tender Eyes for effective contract management.
  • Uphold BD’s standards on contracting and procurement policies, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of industry standards and relevant legislation.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with Customers, Strategic Partners, and Contracting Authorities, following appropriate dispute resolution channels to address any potential threats to the business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UKI CLM, Legal Counsel, Business Partners, Tenders, Pricing, and Customer Care, to enable best-in-class outcomes and adapt a strategic approach to relationship management.
  • Provide regular financial and contracting data reporting, presenting to appropriate stakeholders within BD.
