Supervisor: Director
Program: FOL – Knights Women’s Center
Location: Tampa, FL
Work Schedule: 4 days per week, including Saturday (24 hours per week)
Job Classification: Part-Time Nonexempt
Pay Rate: $19.00

Description: The Ultrasound Specialist provides support and care to clients and maintains professional standards of care, following the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) Code of Ethics and in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth by Catholic Charities. Under the general supervision of the Medical Director and the Program Manager, the Ultrasound Specialist is responsible for providing limited ultrasound for the Foundations of Life Pregnancy Center Program. The Ultrasound Specialist maintains a consistent life-affirming philosophy and will not refer or advise a woman to have an abortion.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

· The position requires a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) in good standing or comparable experience.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Coordination and provision of client services for Foundations of Life Pregnancy Center Program which include pregnancy testing, limited ultrasound, and options counseling as well as information on adoption services, mentoring, educational programs, and post abortion support groups.
· Has a sincere desire to reach the abortion-vulnerable and abortion-minded woman.
· Perform limited ultrasound under the direction of the Medical Director assessing viability including multiple pregnancy and heartbeat activity.
· Complete Ultrasound Worksheets, sonogram pictures, and reports and submit to the Medical Director for review in a timely manner.
· Seek assistance of the medical director and advocates taking measures to preserve life where both a woman and her child may be saved when situations arise where a woman’s life may be at risk.
· Refer any abnormal or suspicious scan for review by a physician as soon as possible.
· Alert first responders by calling 911 if a client or the preborn child is judged to be in a life-threatening situation.
· Instruct the client to seek follow up with an OB/GYN physician as soon as possible or seek treatment at the nearest emergency room if client is experiencing severe abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, or other symptoms that would warrant such treatment.
· Networks and collaborates with other contacts and agencies in related fields to stay current with industry issues and advancements.
· Attends training and other educational opportunities to ensure quality of services provided (pregnancy tests, limited ultrasound, and client mentoring).
· Ensures all pertinent data is recorded according to procedures and practices for quality assurance. Including, but not limited to client assessments, referrals, and weekly staff activity reports.
· Respects confidentiality and adheres to agency guidelines.
