Description Brattleboro Memorial Hospital / Southern Vermont Health Services Corporation Job Description Job Title: ULTRASOUND TECH - CARDIAC Job Code: 730 Hours: 0800-1700 FTE: 1.0 (40 hours/week) Weekend Schedule:N/A Holiday Schedule: N/A Call Schedule: N/A FLSA Status: Non-exempt Department Name: Cardiology Location: Brattleboro, Vermont JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Radiology and Medical Director, the Ultrasound Technologist - Medical is responsible for care and safety of patients undergoing ultrasound procedures; use and knowledge of ultrasound equipment to produce diagnostic ultrasound images of the abdomen, pelvis, fetus, thyroid, breast, extremities, and other procedures for diagnosis of disorders and diseases. Under the direction of the Director of Radiology, Medical Director and Cardiologists, the Ultrasound Technologist -Cardiac is responsible for care and safety of patients undergoing cardiac ultrasound procedures; use and knowledge of ultrasound equipment to perform professional quality cardiac ultrasound procedures including stress echoes and transesophageal ultrasound studies. Duties and Responsibilities: Conducting ultrasound tests to capture cardiac images for diagnostic purposes Preparing patients for procedures and explaining the process to them Ensuring all equipment is in working order and properly maintained Collaborating with physicians and other medical professionals on treatment plans Documenting patient information and maintaining accurate records Staying current on industry developments and best practices to continually improve patient care DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE: The Department of Radiology at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital is a consultative service that will provide services in the following categories: diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, computed tomography, interventional radiography, MRI, bone density and mammography. The department offers services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to inpatients, outpatients and emergency room patients of all ages. Whereas x-ray procedures constitute the majority of our service, we also provide related quality control (including protecting patients and staff from harmful radiation), quality assurance monitoring and evaluation, marketing and continuing education of staff and patients. Radiology is comprises of licensed technologists, certified and licensed nuclear medicine technologists, secretarial staff and licensed radiologists. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION Associate or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS ARDMS or CCI certification in Cardiac Sonography Demonstrated proficiency in cardiac ultrasound procedures and techniques EXPERIENCE Demonstrated proficiency in cardiac ultrasound procedures and techniques Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment Attention to detail and ability to multitask OSHA CATEGORY OSHA Category I - Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues require use of techniques of Universal Precautions as evidenced with blood borne pathogens standards.
