JOB SUMMARY

The Ultrasound Technologist at the Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Clinic performs routine and complex OB/GYN Sonographic Imaging. They work under the general supervision of a Radiologist. They handle both ambulatory and hospitalized patients in a Physician Office or Clinic Setting. This is specific to Maternal Fetal Medicine as requested by a physician or other licensed provider. They work under the general supervision of an MFM Specialist Physician for assessing and diagnosing pregnancy conditions. This follows established protocols. This position must effectively explain procedures to patients. They ensure patients are relaxed and at ease during the exam. They provide care while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program
  • EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
Responsibilities
  • Performs high-quality ultrasound procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality by following established standards and procedures.
  • Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient service needs. Ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family about the test. Assesses the patient’s ability to tolerate the exam.
  • Prepare the patient and area for the procedure. Position the patient, adjust immobilization devices, and move equipment into position. Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
  • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
  • Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation like requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.
