**NO CALL REQUIRED** Job Title: U/S Tech, Multi - Hosp Unit: Beavercreek Medical Imaging Shift: Varied, PRN Facility: MVH Independently performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and ultrasound directed interventional procedures utilizing proper techniques and protocols. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with registry in the operation of equipment. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Ultrasound Department. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs. Essential Duties & Functions 1. Performs US procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates Ultrasound studies for technical image quality. 2. Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the US procedure. 3. Performs daily and weekly QC as required. 4. Practices sterile technique as required. 5. Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations. 6. Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction 7. Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam. 8. Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure. 9. Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit. 10. Follows radiation safety policies and procedures. Education Required: Associate degree Additional requirements: § Type of degree: Allied Health § Area of study or major: Ultrasonography 308-Lcnsd Radiologic Technologist AA-Associate's Degree § Preferred educational qualifications: Associate degree or graduate of an accredited program Licensure/Certification/Registration: § Minimum of two registries in practiced specialties are required as approved by ARDMS: Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular Technology, Echo, muscular skeletal, Neurosonology, Breast § CPR Certification required § Active member of ARDMS Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience Preferred experience: 2 years of experience in Ultrasound Knowledge/Skills: § Proficient in performing diagnostic procedures and obtaining diagnostic images for physician interpretation § Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) § Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage § Advanced US applications
