Job Summary: An Ultrasound Technician is a healthcare professional who specializes in using ultrasound equipment to capture images of the internal organs and tissues. These images are used by physicians to diagnose and monitor various medical conditions. The technician is responsible for operating the ultrasound machine, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring the quality of images captured. Responsibilities: Set up and operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images. Adjust equipment settings to ensure optimal image quality. Explain procedures to patients and answer any questions to ensure comfort and cooperation. Position patients correctly to obtain the best images and apply the appropriate conductive gel. Perform ultrasound examinations including arterial, carotid, and venous scans according to established protocols and physician orders. Review and analyze images for clarity and accuracy. Identify normal and abnormal imaging results and document findings. Prepares preliminary reports and contacts referring physicians when required, according to established procedures Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings and assist in diagnosis. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient status and test results. Maintain detailed patient records, including images and test results. Ensure all documentation complies with legal and regulatory requirements. Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on ultrasound equipment. Report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel for repair. Adhere to safety protocols and infection control procedures to protect patients and staff. Provide compassionate care and support to patients throughout the imaging process. Perform other duties as assigned. At least two years of sonography experience.
