Description We are searching for an experienced Ultrasound Technician for a full time, 1 year contract opportunity beginning in June 2026 with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Long Beach, California. This is a W-2 contract position supporting the VA Medical Center and offers a stable weekly schedule, competitive benefits, and the opportunity to serve our nation's Veterans in a highly respected federal healthcare system. Position Highlights $55/hour Weekday & Weekend Coverage Needs W-2 Benefits Including Healthcare & 401k 40 hours/week No Call Contract Details Contract Dates: 6/30/2026 - 6/29/2027 Location: Long Beach, CA - VA Medical Center Day Shift: 8am - 4:30pm Evening Shift: 3:30pm - 12:00am Contract: 1 Year Minimum with Extension Opportunities Duties & Responsibilities Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound exams independently in accordance with established protocols Prepare, position, and educate patients while ensuring safety and comfort during procedures Operate ultrasound equipment and select appropriate technical settings to produce high-quality diagnostic images Set up and maintain exam rooms, ensuring all required supplies and equipment are available Document and transmit imaging studies through PACS, including post-processing and image archiving Maintain accurate patient records using VA systems (VistA Radiology and CPRS) Follow all VA policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards Utilize independent judgment and collaborate with radiologists and interdisciplinary teams to support patient care Requirements Valid ARDMS (AB) Certification Encouraged but not required Minimum 2 years current work experience in Medical Sonography Current BLS Certification PACS Work Experience Required; AGFA PACS experience preferred but not necessary (training provided as needed)
