Candidates without valid work permit in Norway will not be evaluated Contract Period: 31.12.2025 – 30.12.2026 Option Period: 2 × 12 months Work Location: Onshore (Lysaker or Stavanger) with sporadic offshore travel Language Requirements: English We are seeking an experienced Subsea Umbilical & Cable Lead to join the SURF organization for a large subsea tie-back development. The SURF scope includes a new subsea template, pipeline system, umbilicals (static and dynamic) and riser infrastructure. The role is part of the SURF team and reports to the SURF Project Manager. You will hold full responsibility for planning, engineering, fabrication, and execution of the Subsea Umbilical & Cable scope across all project phases, ensuring alignment with governing requirements, best practices, standards, and applicable rules and regulations. This position includes leadership of the discipline team, continuous improvement activities, and ensuring efficient execution through all project phases Responsibilities The Subsea Umbilical & Cable Lead will be responsible for: Managing and executing all planning, engineering, qualification, and fabrication activities within the umbilical and cable scope. Building, coordinating, and aligning the technical team required to deliver the scope throughout all project phases. Ensuring compliance with governing documentation, standards, and regulatory requirements. Contributing to and following the SURF execution model, with a focus on continuous improvement, constructability, safety in design, and cost efficiency. Preparing discipline documentation according to the relevant phase (DG0–DG4) and project needs. Conducting and following up concept studies and design maturation activities, including inputs to design basis updates. Participating in concept workgroups and documenting recommendations and decisions. Performing or coordinating umbilical- and cable-related studies in accordance with discipline requirements (e.g., TR1244). Providing evaluations, reports, and presentations at key milestones and decision gates. Ensuring alignment and reporting to SPS/SURF/Facility Management as required. Competence Requirements BSc or MSc within engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or equivalent). 10+ years of professional technical experience within umbilical system engineering, design, fabrication, and qualification. Strong competence with umbilical technical requirements and standards (DNV, API, ISO). Experience with dynamic analysis and understanding of both static and dynamic umbilical behavior. Solid understanding of marine operations, offshore execution, and umbilical installation methodologies. Experience across full project life cycle—from early phase concept to detailed engineering, fabrication, testing, and installation.
