BACKGROUND UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Established by UN Women in 2022 with the support of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF) of the Republic of Korea , the UN Women Knowledge & Partnerships Centre in the Republic of Korea is dedicated to supporting traditional and non-traditional stakeholders in realizing commitments to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the rights of women and girls through (i) gender capacity-building training programmes, (ii) research and support for production and use of gender data, and (iii) network building, partnership cultivation and advocacy as a leading gender training and knowledge hub in Asia and beyond. The Centre embraces innovation, including as it relates to new technologies and partnerships, to increase the breadth and impacts of its work, aligning with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Pact for the Future and the on-going regional and global dialogue on Beijing+30 and its transformative promise to leave no one behind. Prioritization is given to supporting at the regional and global level: enhanced knowledge, responses and strategies on the Care economy as a cornerstone of women’s overall empowerment; strengthened knowledge, policies and tools to end technology-facilitated gender-based violence; and increased emphasis on advancing multistakeholder partnerships for gender equality and women’s empowerment. In the past 3 years, the Centre’s External Relations Team has implemented a wide range of activities, including implementation of signature events like the annual International Women’s Day Commemoration, Seoul Gender Equality Dialogue, Ring the Bell for Gender Equality, the Papa School, 16 Days of Activism for Ending Violence against women, as well as many private sector events for promoting gender equality and care-friendly workplaces. The team also maintains and produces contents for its own Naver blog in Korean language as well as its webpages in UN Women’s Asia-Pacific regional website and social media channels. Based on successful external relations activities, the Centre maintains and expands strategic partnerships with the private sector, academia, civil society, government, and diplomatic community, while innovating news ways of effecting change for gender equality (such as engagement of men on care). The Centre’s working language is English; and it offers an international working environment, while Korean language skills are required for this particular post, given the nature of work involved. The incumbent will report to the Centre’s External Relations Specialist. Under the Specialist’s supervision, s/he will be responsible for designing, operationalizing, and implementing various external relations activities for the Centre including communications & advocacy work, partnerships, private sector engagement, as well as organization of various domestic & international meetings for the Centre. As part of the relatively new UN Women office in the Republic of Korea, the incumbent is expected to contribute to the creative formulation and exciting implementation of many exciting initiatives of the Centre and build his/her professional capacities and networks as well. SCOPE OF WORK The incumbent may supervise one or two interns/UNVs and will report to and work under the direct supervision of the Centre’s External Relations Specialist. 1. Provide technical and operational coordination for the planning and implementation of external relations strategies of the Centre Technically contribute to the design and implementation of the Centre’s external relations, communications, and partnership portfolio in line with UN Women corporate priorities; Provide technical inputs to the formulation of annual external relations workplans and initiatives, including visibility, advocacy, and private sector engagement; Coordinate the integration of external relations components across the Centre’s programme portfolio, ensuring coherence between communications, partnerships, and programme delivery. 2. Technically contribute to communications and publicity work of the Centre Coordinate the production of high-quality and strategic communications products in Korean and English, including web content, newsletters, social media, blogs, videos, and media materials; Manage and regularly update the Centre’s communication platforms, including webpages, social media channels, and the Naver Blog (including the advertisements); and broker/maintain partnerships with influential persons for the Centre’s publicity. Technically contribute to media engagement, drafting of press releases, talking points, speeches, and briefing materials; Ensure adherence to UN Women branding and communications standards. 3. Coordinate private sector engagement, including the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Coordinate partnerships development and collaboration with private sector entities, with a focus on promoting and operationalizing the UN Women's Women Empowerment Principles; WEPs; Technically contribute to the organization of the Centre’s “Papa School” as well as other WEPs-related outreach, capacity-building activities, and partnership events; Maintain partnerships database and support the preparation of partner profiles, concept notes, and cooperation proposals. 4. Technically contribute to organization of various meetings and advocacy events and campaigns Provide end-to-end coordination for national, regional, and international meetings, forums, trainings, and advocacy events hosted by the Centre, including the annual International Women’s Day Commemoration, Ring the Bell for Gender Equality, and 16 Days Campaign to end Violence Against Women Liaise with relevant teams UN Women Country Offices (particularly communications and Women’s Economic Empowerment Teams), Asia-Pacific Regional Office, and HQ to support joint initiatives and knowledge exchange; Coordinate with Korean government institutions, civil society, academia, and other stakeholders (including through the UN Women Academic Network) with sound diplomatic judgment and protocol. 5. Contribute to partnership development and stakeholder coordination Coordinate engagement with government, private sector, civil society, and international partners to advance the Centre’s mandate; Prepare partnership-related documents including concept notes, briefing packages, and correspondence; Liaise with national counterparts and coordinate follow-up actions from meetings and advisory groups. 6. Provide inputs to monitoring, reporting, and knowledge management Technically contribute to documentation of external relations results and contribute to quarterly, annual, and donor reporting; Compile and systematize communications and event outputs, including photos, media coverage, and knowledge products; Contribute to lessons learned and good practice documentation related to partnerships and communications. 7. Technically contribute to overall programme delivery of the Centre Provide flexible support to all aspects of external relations work within a small team environment; Demonstrate proactive problem-solving and independent management of assigned tasks; Work closely with all members of the Centre to overcome operational challenges and ensure timely delivery of activities.
