Job Description Undergraduate Civil Engineers – Paid Work Experience Opportunity 12 weeks placement from 23 November 2026 to 19 February 2027 38 hour per week Paid Causal position including Superannuation Hume City Council is one of Australia’s fastest growing and culturally diverse councils. Apply your engineering skills in a variety of areas including Traffic Engineering, Civil Design, Project Planning, Asset Management and Infrastructure Delivery. What you’ll be doing: Traffic Engineering Civil Design Asset Engineering Infrastucture Delivery Project Planning Preparing designs across all range of engineering projects. Utilising CAD software in accordance with relevant design standards. Evaluating, investigating, and providing solutions across various aspects of engineering projects. Prepare engineering estimate of works. Prepare tender documents for works including schedules, specifications, and contract documentation. Process applications submitted by service authorities. The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role: Demonstrated knowledge of traffic engineering, civil design, project management, construction supervision and asset management systems. Demonstrated ability to manage time, including setting priorities, planning, and organising work and meeting timelines. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with a broad range of stakeholders. Ability in general computer skills, including the use of engineering software packages would be an advantage. Technical ability in the application of engineering software packages including Computer Aided Design. Work experience in other areas not relating to engineering is considered an advantage. Required Certifications & Qualifications: Penultimate undergraduates of Civil Engineering Degree course. Students completing their final year in 2026 and other year level will also be considered.
