What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?
This is an excellent opportunity to gain a real comprehension of a Global Information Security organization, specifically in Global Cyber Engineering. During the placement you will be sitting side by side with the Global Cyber Engineering team and other Security based teams in the Sandwich, Kent Pfizer office.
The role as Cyber Security Solutions Operations Analyst will respond to network and endpoint security technology events globally in a follow the sun model for any related outages to build a deep comprehension of computer network attacks against Pfizer’s global enterprise. Cyber Security Solution Analysts will be expected to support security events, develop key metrics in support of the security technologies, perform analytics across various datasets to improve operations and endpoint compliance, develop remediation plans, and support security issues that face the Pfizer environment.
- You will leverage security data from internal sensors (IDS, Firewall, SIEM, Proxy, hosts) and external sources (Industry portals, threat intel feeds, etc) to provide Trust but Verify validation of our security posture.
- Be a liaison for all GIS security related inquiries and support questions for EMEA & APAC region and provide support of all security solutions in a follow the sun regional model.
- Perform Security Analysis on Websites, Browser Extensions, Firewall Rules, and Endpoint Security Exceptions reviews, using our SIEM to create alerts and dashboards providing greater visibility of our threat landscape.
- Gain experience using some of the world’s best security products deployed across a very large and distributed corporate network.
- Work with Engineering teams who provide solutions to GIS to comprehend innovative ways to protect our environments.
- Review security incidents and events to evaluate how to improve effectiveness to avoid future incidents. I.E. Endpoint agent not functioning as implemented or enable new policy feature.
- This is an opportunity to work in our EMEA CORE (Cybersecurity Operations & Response Environment) as part of a larger global team (based in similar CORE facilities in the US and Singapore).

Type of person we are looking for, in relation to ‘Skills’, ‘Knowledge’ and ‘Motivation’:
- Studying for a degree with a year in industry placement year or taking a gap year
- A genuine interest in pursuing a technical role in the cyber security field
- Excellent written and communication skills
- The motivation and resilience to make the most of this opportunity
