JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Undergraduate Research in Sustainable Engineering (URISE)
The Undergraduate Research in Sustainable Engineering (URISE) Internship provides experience in research programs in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Brigham Young University for a 12-to-14-week period. Undergraduates will gain valuable skills while engaging in challenging and intriguing research projects ranging from investigating fundamental science and properties to pilot-scale engineering projects. Research programs in the departments involve biochemistry, electrochemistry, sustainable energy, combustion, nuclear energy, thermodynamics, molecular simulation, and process simulation. During this interim research assistantship, the hired candidate will be expected to work daily (Monday-Friday) on BYU’s campus, be trained in safe practices in the laboratory setting (if performing lab work), to actively participate in a research group, to perform experimental or simulation work, to assist in the analysis of data, and to contribute to writing of reports and publications. The hired candidate will also support graduate students in their research as directed. The hired candidate will receive mentorship from a faculty member and experienced undergraduate and graduate research assistants in the department.
