QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.Sc. Engineering or Engineering Technologist.
  • Can be registered with either APEGA or ASET as Engineer in Training or Technologist in Training.
  • Preferred previous experience in underground distribution design
  • Preferred previous AGi-32 experience.
  • Preferred previous AutoCAD experience.
  • Entrepreneurial approach and the ability to take on challenges in a changing environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives;
  • Proficiency with computer systems and applications including the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with tight timelines;

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with internal and external customers, stakeholders and co-workers;

Responsibilities:

ROLE OBJECTIVE:

Reporting to the Program Manager, URD & Streetlighting, the Underground Distribution Designer’s primary role will be to design and draft underground residential distribution and streetlighting projects for Hardline Engineering clients. Preference will be given to previous distribution and streetlighting experience and proven abilities in AutoCAD and AGi. As well as collaborate with various divisions including safety, engineering, construction, accounting and procurement.

To effectively complete the responsibilities of this position, the candidate must be able to complete the following:

  • Design and draft URD and Streetlighting drawings by having a solid understanding of AutoCAD, luminance and illuminance methods, electrical theory, and practice as it relates to URD and streetlighting systems.
  • Ensure design work is consistently accurate, of a high quality, scheduled and completed to meet project deliverables.
  • Manage, prioritize, and effectively deliver multiple projects and work requests both internally and externally with clients.
  • Attend construction start-up and close out meetings, inspection of installations for accuracy to standard and design as well as completion of record drawings.
  • Look for continuous improvement opportunities
  • Lead by example in regard to Health and Safety protocols and requirements.
  • Perform periodic inspection audits, record finding, produce reports with recommendations and corrective action plans to ensure consistent application of EH&S procedures and practices.
  • Additional duties as assigned
