DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

• Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician ticket with prior experience in industrial electrical repair and maintenance in the construction and/or mining industry.
• Familiarity with reading electrical schematics and prints required, with preference given to those with working knowledge of the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in mining operations.
• Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and industry best practices.
• Experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources is considered an asset.

• The overall inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical components for mine equipment in compliance with regulations and B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures.
• Install and maintain underground substations and pump stations.
• Diagnose areas of improvement and/or repair on underground electrical systems, substations, and pump stations.
• Inspect equipment for performance and diagnose areas of improvement and/or repair and complete repairs and necessary.
• Read, understand, and interpret prints.
• Collaborate with site teams to identify operational requirements and improvements of the project.
• Test and troubleshoot electrical, control, and automation systems.
• Assist in the design, testing, and start-up of instrumentation and control systems.
• Update and aid in the setup of the Electrical and Control schematics.
• Participate in safety toolbox talks to promote compliance with B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures.
