Our Waihi Operation in the North Island of New Zealand is an underground operation. A recent consent to develop the previous Martha mine has provided our project with an extension of life providing our 350 staff and contractors, and the people of Waihi, an assurance that we plan to be here for the long-term. Job Description Due to ongoing expansion of the Waihi operation, additional headcount for 2 Underground Surveyors has been approved for 2026. We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Surveyors to join the team, which is situated in a stunning residential location of New Zealand. As an integral part of our mining operations, you will be responsible for conducting accurate surveys, maintaining digital datasets and providing crucial data for operational mining activities. Key tasks and responsibilities: Perform underground surveys using various surveying equipment and techniques Install and maintain laser alignment systems for development headings Carry out CMS and CALS scans of stopes and voids Issue mining instruction and memos for operations Develop and extend the mine survey control network to ensure the highest achievable accuracy for the mine Update and maintain accurate survey data records and 3D models Qualifications Tertiary Qualification in Surveying or Demonstrated Surveying Experience Full and Current Drivers License with the ability to drive a manual vehicle Previous Survey experience in an underground mine environment preferred Proficiency in use of surveying equipment and software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac) Excellent mathematical, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills Good communication skills and physical fitness for underground work Additional Information WHAT'S ON OFFER: Full time permanent position with an 8 days on 6 days off roster Residential role - live and work in Waihi, the gateway to the stunning Coromandel region Competitive salary + short-term and long-term bonus Discounts on retail and services Free Southern Cross Healthcare Life Insurance Free Gym Membership BP Fuel card discount Career Development Opportunities Long service recognition Living Our Values recognition program Access to OceanaGold Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Exceptional working environment where people are valued and respected YOU MATTER: OceanaGold is committed to providing equal employment opportunities.
