Group Medical Database Underwriter – Overland Park, KS Aston Carter has partnered with a client in Overland Park, Kansas, seeking a Group Medical Database Underwriter to join their team. Job Description As an underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating new business eligibility for health insurance, reviewing medical reports, and making informed decisions on medical risk. You will also conduct necessary communications with employers and applicants, finalize new business rates, and participate in renewal processes. Responsibilities Underwrite new business according to parameter guidelines and determine group eligibility for health insurance. Review Medical Load Reports and evaluate medical risk. Assess Participation Worksheets and Group Eligibility. Analyze Current Carrier Bills and Renewal Rates compared to presented census and generated rates. Conduct phone calls with employers and applicants to obtain additional health information. Send final new business rates and run alternate quotes approved by the rate committee. Evaluate health renewals and recommend appropriate rate increases, documenting actions and details. Create synopses of claim referrals and IDC complaints for finalization by Level 4. Essential Skills Experience in underwriting and knowledge of medical terminology. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and underwriting software. Minimum 3 years of experience in the insurance industry, with 1-2 years in group and individual medical underwriting. Experience with medical database underwriting is required. High School Diploma is required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Gradient underwriting software is preferred but not required. Open to candidates who have changed careers and wish to return to the field. Work Environment This role offers a hybrid working arrangement with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote (Monday to Friday). There is an option for fully remote work if residing in California, Texas, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Illinois, Florida, Kansas, or Missouri. The company provides a casual work environment and has experienced significant growth over the past five years. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Overland Park, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr. Benefit package includes health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage for full time employees 11 paid holidays.
