Job Description Job description The Underwriter will be actively involved in underwriting a portfolio of Global, International reinsurance, and London Market accounts within the Global Catastrophe portfolio. Overall, your specific job responsibilities include: Underwriting a world-class portfolio of reinsurance catastrophe accounts; Managing catastrophe loss evaluation and reporting for the accounts underwritten; Ensuring that guidelines, plans and policies are adhered to; Strengthening and building client and broker relationships; Supporting and contributing to strategy and action planning; Acquiring, analysing and reporting on market, business and technical developments; Making underwriting decisions within the authorized limit; Supporting the underwriting and portfolio steering of the worldwide cat reinsurance portfolio as required. Qualifications Your profile Preferably a university degree in a numerate discipline. Knowledge of retro, reinsurance and insurance structures. Established relationships with brokers in the reinsurance market. Intimate knowledge of reinsurance pricing techniques and catastrophe models. Excellent information technology skills. An impeccable work ethic, and the ability and commitment to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and organizational skills. Preferably 8+ years, but a minimum of 5 years experience in the reinsurance industry, including progressive experience of catastrophe market dynamics. Relevant professional designations would be an asset.
