ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for Underwriter I to join our Commercial Lines Auto team in the Edmonton or Calgary office. This role is a permanent full-time hybrid position that requires a minimum of 2 days per week working in the office.
As an Underwriter I your work will have a big impact on our Commercial Auto line of business, focusing on IRCA. People will count on you to underwrite commercial auto insurance risks and make decisions every day that contribute to profitable growth. You will be customer-focused in everything you do, educating the broker and looking for ways to improve the customer experience. With a strong sales ability, you will develop profitable business relationships with brokers and will be effective in upsell and cross-sell activities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO HERE:

• Develop long-term and meaningful relationships with brokers by providing legendary service and participating in broker visits, field underwriting, insurance industry functions, and marketing events
• Assess and evaluate risks, analyzing requests for quotes, renewals and policy changes and recommend innovative solutions
• Help shape the future of Commercial Auto by providing creative solutions on process or workflow improvements to increase efficiencies and elevate best practices
• Provide pricing, profitability and coverage analysis to support regional sales and retention initiatives
• Help to ensure that the regional underwriting service, production and profitability levels are achieved
