JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing a diversified portfolio of Accident & Health (A&H) business, including managing existing and new cover holder opportunities all in line with our strategic targets for profitability and market expansion. We are seeking someone who can deliver superior underwriting service, bring in new ideas with the ability to independently drive growth.
This position is dynamic, involving the implementation and oversight of underwriting rules, compliance with insurance laws and regulations and the use of innovative rating rules and models. We are looking for someone who is hungry for a new challenge, prepared to engage in hands on work and be a positive influence in the Australian and wider Asia Pacific region.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum 7 years relevant experience in Australian A&H market
  • An ambitious self starter
  • Strong product knowledge across full product suite (experience in specialist areas of A&H is favourable)
  • Capable of underwriting complex A&H cases independently and autonomously
  • Meaningful and strong broker relationships
  • Experience in developing business opportunities through brokers
  • Positive and resilient attitude
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to change
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the ambitious and profitable growth of the A&H book, and assisting in the implementation of business strategies, and formulation of portfolio planning
  • Performing technical underwriting of A&H products across a range of risk sizes, within the authorised framework
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders, and raise standards and expertise across the technical community
  • Strong client service focus with an enthusiasm for delivering high standards of satisfaction with external clients
  • Contribute to enhancement of internal processes, underwriting systems and underwriting tools
  • Authorising policy administration and processing
  • Responsible for supporting credit control activities as and when necessary
