Job Description
Within the Credit Specialties Unit, we have a vacancy for a Underwriter / Senior Underwriter based in London.
The purpose of the role is to strategically grow our Credit Specialties book, predominantly through our broker community whom are mainly based in London and the wider UK, whilst providing the highest standard of service and expertise to customers worldwide.
Credit Specialties designs and creates unique credit insurance solutions for individual contracts or situations, as well as for portfolios of obligors, either for corporates, traders or financial institutions. Our solutions range from a short tenor spot cargos up to 12-years Project Finance deals. The underwriting opportunity will focus are the following solutions:
Excess of Loss and Multi-buyer policies
Single Risks transactions for banks corporates and traders
Portfolio solutions for Financial Institutions
Within the team we have responsibilities throughout the entire lifecycle of an insurance transaction. Responsibilities / tasks include:
Lead generation and the acquisition of new business.
Underwriting / reviewing new insurance requests.
Financial / Sectoral / Geopolitical analysis.
Close collaboration with internal stake holders and risk underwriting teams.
Pricing negotiation.
Wording negotiation.
Policy structuring.
Account management.
What qualification should you have?
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING PROFILE:
An education of at least Bachelor level or equivalent experience, combined with a mature business understanding.
Strong research / analytical skills (corporate & financial, sectorial, political risk as well as transactional analysis) with affinity in geopolitics and economics.
A proven understanding of the business environment and creativity in finding the right solutions.
A proven networker
Very comfortable in a customer facing role and managing a portfolio of highly demanding customers.
At least 4 years working experience as an Underwriter, Sales Manager, Broker or Account Manager in credit insurance, ideally with an existing network in London and a solid understanding of Excess of Loss policy structures
First class organizational skills and the ability to manage strategic partnerships at all levels, from operational to C-suite, while working well under pressure.
Able to provide structured updates to all stakeholders (line management, other departments, external stakeholders).
A team player with excellent communication skills in English, and a strong command of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Teams)
Always looking for efficiencies and process improvements
Willingness to travel on an occasional basis (national and international).
