Join Close Brothers Wholesale Finance Team as a senior Underwriter where you will work a customer generated queue of new finance applications for end users requiring a larger credit line. Applications will come from both Contract Hire companies and Dealers in the Materials Handling sector.
This role involves working alongside the senior management team, thoroughly assessing the affordability of businesses alongside completing financial analysis of audited accounts.
Our ideal new team member will have direct experience of underwriting, ideally specialising in vehicle or hard assets with a credit mandate of £500k+. They will possess a questioning and analytical mind, have strong communication skills and the ability to articulate financial matters to non-financial stakeholders.

IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU:

  • Have strong knowledge of general level maths
  • Have previous experience working in a similar field/industry.

Responsibilities
  • Compose and check all credit application documentation for new applications are correct and adherence to credit policy is met and to ensure full compliance with current legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Act as a trusted advisor to other colleagues in both credit and the wider business to grow awareness and understanding of the risks and good governance of the credit function.
  • Having followed the above requirements be able to provide an accept / decline / AFI decision and be accountable for it should questions be asked.
  • Work to a high degree of accuracy to ensure reporting figures are accurate and timely to support the contract hire companies manage their portfolio of prospects.
  • General understanding of how to evaluate vehicles using systems such as CAP
  • Ensure prompt and professional answering of the phone and handling of queries.
  • Provide a high level of customer support and communication regarding the credit process and the decisions taken
  • Support our sales teams with regards to the quality and quantity of applications submitted by our Contract Hire and Dealer partners to assist them in the management of the wider relationship.
