Description
The Underwriting Departmental Internship is a unique, immersive opportunity to experience how underwriting truly works from the inside out. Over the course of 11 weeks, two interns will work together and rotate through different managers within the department — gaining exposure to a wide range of underwriting functions, systems, and real‑world challenges. You’ll learn how underwriting decisions are made, how agencies are managed, how compliance is maintained, and how data and systems support the entire operation. This internship is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, problem‑solving, and learning by doing. What You’ll Do Throughout your rotations, you’ll dive into projects such as: Competitor filings research Participating in agency visits Conducting system user acceptance testing Leads research through the MyEdge system Supporting underwriting processes and core system workflows By the end of the summer, you’ll have gained exposure to many key aspects of underwriting — and built a strong foundation for a future career in insurance, risk, or business operations. What You’ll Bring Pursuing an Associate’s degree or higher Curiosity and a willingness to learn new systems and processes Why You’ll Love This Internship You’ll see it all. Instead of focusing on one task, you’ll rotate through multiple managers and functions, giving you a 360‑degree view of underwriting. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ MEMIC is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all employees and qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, genetics, gender identity, veteran's status, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
