Our Professional Indemnity Financial Lines team is currently looking for an Underwriting Specialist based in Chicago. This is a hybrid role. The Impact You Will Have Underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet Line of Business (LoB) targets regionally in accordance with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority. Some of your specific responsibilities could include: Participate in the development and execution of Zonal Underwriting strategy for LoB(s) and work closely with Market Management, Claims and other product lines to achieve key marketing strategies, including cross- selling Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets Negotiate price and terms and conditions with producers Underwrite in line with Financial Lines governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles Proactively support completion of policy administration and credit control processes Contribute to development and execution of zonal Underwriting strategy for LoB Training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff (including Underwriters) Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and producer negotiations where necessary) Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers) What You’ll Bring to the Role 5-7 years experience in Underwriting profitable business in Financial Lines. Specialized expert understanding of sub-LoB products and portfolio 5-7 years experience in demonstrating established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market 5-7 years experience in specialized understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global elements 3-5 years experience in good understanding of legal and regulatory framework 3-5 years experience working in complex, global matrix organization College degree preferably in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII, RPLU) is a plus Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is preferred The annualized base pay range for this role is $122,017 - $189,931. The annual base salary range represents nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package.
