Slide Insurance is looking for a dynamic Underwriting Supervisor to help lead, mentor, and shape the success of our property underwriting team. In this role, you’ll balance hands-on underwriting expertise with strategic leadership, helping us deliver innovative products and exceptional service in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. What you will be doing: Product Development & Strategy Partner with leadership to develop programs, coverages, rates, and forms for property products. Collaborate across departments to ensure new products align with company strategy and market needs. Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes affecting personal lines underwriting. Work with agency partners to identify market opportunities, analyze performance trends, and recommend pricing or product adjustments to leadership Underwriting Operations & Decision Support Review underwriting files (referrals, renewals, declinations, and similar items) after staff has completed their initial analysis and recommend subsequent actions. Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions, correspondence, and other key documentation. Handle escalated submissions and complex underwriting situations with professionalism and sound judgment. Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and performance standards. Process & Systems Management Assist in establishing and maintaining internal guidelines for referrals, underwriting procedures, and department workflows. Spearhead the development of procedures to enhance team productivity and efficiency. Manage, develop, and maintain underwriting manuals for Slide and state administrators. Participate in underwriting system development, process improvements, and user testing to ensure tools meet operational needs. Leadership & Team Development Monitor the quality of underwriting staff work and provide coaching on advanced tasks. Train, mentor, and support underwriters to foster skill development and professional growth. Conduct interviews, make staffing recommendations, and assist in building a high-performing team. Promote a collaborative, positive team culture rooted in Slide’s Core Values. Continuous Improvement & Collaboration Partner with cross-functional teams to align underwriting operations with organizational goals. Recommend enhancements to improve underwriting accuracy, turnaround times, and overall customer experience. Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the department and organization. What you already have: Education, Experience, and Licensing: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience Minimum 5 years of P&C policy-level underwriting experience Minimum 3 years of direct or indirect supervisory experience. Qualifications/Skills and Competencies: Expert knowledge of personal lines products, underwriting processes, and risk management techniques. Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance structure Proven ability to be adaptable and flexible; adjusting to new requirements or unforeseen issues. Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally interact with team members across departments. Proficient in MSO/365 applications such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Proven mathematical and analytical skills. Desire to live Slide’s Core Values.
