Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations The Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations (OUIO) runs Ohio's unemployment insurance program. This program gives temporary income to workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. It helps families cope during unemployment and supports local economies by keeping money in circulation. For more information, visit the ODJFS OUIO webpage at jfs.ohio.gov. What You’ll Do Manage daily staff operations to ensure productivity, efficiency, and good customer service for unemployed Ohioans. Support and train staff on complex unemployment claims, including combined wage, federal, military, and first-level appeals. Collaborate with other supervisors across ODJFS. Create and review new procedures to ensure they follow laws and regulations. Check employee data and reports to make sure we meet both ODJFS and federal goals. Monitor unemployment data for quality and quantity of work, and fix issues as needed. Handle disputes and complaints from customers and explain unemployment laws and rules. Challenges: Remote work environment. Necessary Skills: Experience with federal/state employment or unemployment program(s). Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle competing priorities and remain controlled in a fast-paced environment. Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm Travel: May be required for occasional meetings for training or other operational needs. PN(s): 20032493 The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following: Option 1: 36 months experience or training in interpreting & applying program eligibility &/or liability rules, regulations &/or procedures (e.g., unemployment insurance, workforce development, workers’ compensation, human services or income tax law). AND 12 months training or experience in supervisory principles/techniques. Or Option 2: Completion of undergraduate core program in public or business administration AND 12 months training or experience in supervisory principles/techniques. Or Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above. Pay Information This position is in the State of Ohio’s E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 12. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $32.25 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
