Description
Waste Connections is looking for a safety-minded Union CDL Recycle Route Driver to join our team in Vancouver, WA. Shift is Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. Start time is 5:30 AM and ends when route is complete; generally 9-10 hours/day. Union rate of pay is $32.00/HR. Safety Sensitive: Yes DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to safely drive large, heavy vehicles in residential neighborhoods requiring high awareness of pedestrians, traffic, and tight spaces to collect recycle on specific routes. Ability to read an electronic route tablet and service each customer identified on the route or assigned by the dispatcher. Ability to operate hydraulic lift (from inside the cab) to service 900+ garbage carts and dispose of trash at designated facilities. Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires. Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers. Courteous interaction with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Extensive physical activity. Require strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds many times throughout an 8+ hour shift. Work environment involves exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts. This requires following basic safety precautions. The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement REQUIRED as a minimum. Must have a CLEAN DRIVING RECORD. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Basic knowledge of truck components in order to complete DOT pre- and post-trip inspections. Employment contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements Iincluding criminal background check, motor vehicle report and drug panel screening. Responsibilities
The driver will safely operate large, heavy vehicles on residential routes to collect recycling, requiring high awareness of pedestrians and traffic while servicing assigned customers using an electronic route tablet. Responsibilities also include operating hydraulic lifts to service hundreds of carts and performing routine vehicle inspections and maintenance.
