Union Kitchen, in West Hartford, CT, is looking for a skilled server to join our team. The right person should be passionate about hospitality and great food done right. Union Kitchen, a part of the Bean Restaurant Group family of restaurants, is a Wine Spectator Award winning restaurant serving New American cuisine. Our menu is small but focused. Our cooking is modern and ambitious with a focus on seasonality and ingredients. We are proud to make things from scratch - like our duck prosciutto. Our mission is to provide a truly unforgettable dining experience through excellent hospitality, delicious food, and unparalleled professionalism.

Servers are responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience. Primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Greets customers as they are seated at the table; ensures the table is clean and that utensils, napkins, and other needs have been provided.
  • Present menu to guests and answer questions about menu items, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services as needed.
  • Inform guests of any menu changes and daily specials, and make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.
  • Takes food and beverage orders and delivers them to the kitchen.
  • Delivers food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items to customers.
  • Ensures that food is prepared correctly and to customers satisfaction; returns incorrect or improperly cooked orders to kitchen.
  • Collects plates and clears the table as customers finish their meals.
  • Prepares customers checks and collects payments.
  • Assists with other restaurant tasks such as cleaning the dining area and preparing silverware and condiments.
  • Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A team player with a hospitality first mentality and a keen willingness to learn
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to stand, walk and lift heavy items for extended periods of time
  • Two years experience preferred, but we will train the right restaurant candidate who shows a willingness to learn in a collaborative environment
