This position requires a highly motivated individual that is interested in working with people. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are large contributors to success in this position. As a Unit Clerk, you will be instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients and families. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative task, which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals. You will also maintain patient records, and charts, process physician orders as well as schedule patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities such as recording and transcribing meeting minutes and requisitioning of office and patient care supplies. You will have the ability to work cooperatively within a team environment and demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Unit Clerk is a coordinator and a central source of information and record keeping relating to the activities, communication and service for the patients on the nursing unit. The Unit Clerk acts as a liaison between members of the interdisciplinary team as well as other hospital and non-hospital staff.
