At NorthBay Health the Unit Clerk/Certified Nursing Assistant (UC/CNA) is responsible for general clerical and reception duties, and for the delivery of assigned patient care duties under the direction and supervision of a licensed, professional nurse. The UC/CNA, utilizing the Jean Watson Nursing Theory of Caring and the Relationship Based Care Model, provides assistance to patients in accordance with the functional and developmental needs of each patient. Supports the mission, vision, values and expectation of excellence of the organization. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES * Performs treatments within scope of nursing assistant practice. * Documents care provided on appropriate records. * Reports change in patient condition to licensed professional nurse. * Assists in maintaining a clean, safe environment for patients, self and co-workers and reports any unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel. * Transports patients via wheelchair or gurney between hospital departments and assists ambulatory patients between departments. * Performs Safety Attendant duties as directed. * Utilizes effective verbal and written communication with patient and family, physicians, and all other members of the healthcare team. Provides hand-off communication when relieved of duties and/or at shift change. * Acknowledge individual responsibility for appropriate use of resources including equipment and supplies. * Actively participates in and contributes to NorthBay programs and/or initiatives designed to maximize the return on organization financial resources through improvements and service delivery, reduction in expenses, and/or optimization of revenue. Compensation Structure NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1–5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan.
