Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our hemodialysis facility in Burlington, Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for providing essential administrative support to ensure smooth operations of the hemodialysis unit while maintaining high standards of patient care and service.

  • Manage patient reception and registration processes, ensuring accurate documentation and efficient workflow
  • Process and maintain patient records, medical orders, and related documentation
  • Handle telephone communications professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and staff
  • Coordinate scheduling and booking of patient appointments
  • Perform data entry and maintain electronic health records using specialized healthcare software
  • File and organize medical reports, test results, and other clinical documentation
  • Assist medical staff with administrative tasks and documentation requirements
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Monitor and maintain office supplies and equipment
  • Support cross-functional departments as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical Office Administration diploma from an accredited institution OR minimum 1 year of recent clerical experience in a healthcare setting
  • Medical terminology certificate required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Experience with healthcare information systems (e.g., Meditech) preferred
  • Demonstrated typing speed of 30 wpm minimum with high accuracy
  • Strong data entry skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Proven organizational and time management capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical capability to perform extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and managing wheeled equipment
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required
  • Fluent in English with strong command of medical terminology
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills
  • Track record of maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct
    Additional Information
    Hours: Monday to Saturday - Rotating 8 and 12 hour shifts - Days/Evenings (hours subject to change based on operational needs)
    Salary: $29.38 to $29.98 per hour
