Overview The Unit Clerk I in the Outpatient Department (OPD) provides information, assistance, and directions to outpatients and their families within the Institute. The Unit Clerk I provides competent secretarial duties for the Outpatient Department. This position works effectively with other therapeutic disciplines and support staff in accomplishing the Institute’s goals. Responsibilities 1. Serves as a receptionist for the Outpatient Department (OPD). 2. Triages incoming calls and relays the information to the appropriate person. 3. Assists in providing patients and families with needed scheduling information and Institute directions. 4. Prints specimen labels (computerized and addressograph). 5. Prepares and maintains outpatient packets specific to each medical clinic. 6. Obtains patient charts from Health Information Management (HIM) as needed. 7. Inventories and orders stationery for the OPD. 8. Maintains Nurses Station area in a neat, clean, and organized fashion. 9. Stamps all necessary outpatient paperwork with patient’s plate. 10. Copies and posts clinic schedules in OPD and updates daily clinic schedule as changes occur. 11. Drafts memos, policies and procedures, staff meeting minutes, and other communications for the OPD. 12. Xeroxes needed reports, charts, and pertinent information as requested by the OPD nursing staff or physicians. *The individual will demonstrate the ability to appropriately aid the needs of children and adolescents with or without a developmental disability and their families. The individual will be able to address the needs of certain specific adults with disabilities on a case-by-case basis as determined by the physicians. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI. 2. Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required. EXPERIENCE: Three years’ experience as a receptionist/secretary, preferably in a medical setting, required. Minimum pay range USD $33,606.98/Yr. Maximum pay range USD $53,426.67/Yr.
