JOB TITLE: Unit Clerk Monitor Tech DEPARTMENT: ICU/CCU FULL TIME/PRN: Full Time – NIGHTS 7PM-7AM JOB SUMMARY The Monitor Technician is responsible for the continuous observation of cardiac monitors and interpretation of heart rhythms (EKGs). This role works closely with nursing and medical staff to identify and promptly communicate abnormal findings, supporting patient safety and effective clinical care in critical care and telemetry settings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Monitoring: Accurately identify normal and abnormal EKG rhythms; Notify nursing personnel of rhythm changes and patient requests; Remain composed and provide direction during emergency situations, STAT requests, and orders. Work Quantity & Quality: Promptly post EKG strips; Complete assigned duties; Adapt to workload changes related to census and staffing; Participate in quality measures; Complete clerical assignments by end of shift; Perform effectively during emergencies under RN direction; Demonstrate willingness to assist and remain late as needed. Policies & Procedures Knowledge: Demonstrate thorough knowledge of EKG rhythms; Understand responsibilities during cardiac arrest; Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of telemetry and monitoring systems. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED; Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written communication; Basic computer skills. WORKING CONDITIONS Rotating shifts including weekends and holidays; Willingness to adjust schedule for department needs including staying late or working extra shifts.
