Description
The Unit Clerk primary purpose is to provide clerical and receptionist duties to the nursing unit.  The unit clerk position is a support role to nursing, thereby decreasing the clerical duties of the nurse.    Customer service is valued by the individual as evidenced by: 1)being courteous to our customers, which include our patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers and fellow employees; 2) introducing self by name and job title when speaking in person or by telephone to patients, their families and others; 3) demonstration of honesty, discretion in conduct, and confidentiality in conversation in all of work environment.  The individual follows standards of conduct and procedures of hospital and applicable laws and regulations and reports violations through appropriate chain of command.  The individual reports safety concerns and hazardous conditions in a timely and appropriate manner. Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent is required * CPR certification is required within 90 days of employment  * No previous experience is required * Up to 1 year of experience is preferred The kind of position-related experience includes:   -Must be able to successfully type 45 words per minute -Successful completion (80%) of medical terminology exam -Must meet all requirements/responsibilities of criteria-based evaluation (3 or better) within 90 days probationary period. -Proof of data entry class, introduction to computer, or six (6) months prior computer experience. -Experience in effectively dealing with the public is essential to this position.
