Description

Stamford Health is looking for a Part time Unit Coordinator to join the Cardiology Unit. Shifts: 7am to 3pm every other weekend and 1 day during the week.
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator / Charge Nurse, the Unit Coordinator provides administrative support on unit. Serves as a central contact for communication with, but not limited to the surgical team. Filters telephone calls and is distribution point for paperwork and test results.

Responsibilities
  • Greets individuals coming to the unit, provides directions and information and responds to needs and requests of the staff, physicians, members of the perioperative team and all other personnel.
  • Respects and protects the patient’s rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes which are in the patient’s best interests with full consideration of their legal rights.
  • Prepares, compiles and maintains the patient’s medical record on the nursing unit, including transcription of physicians’ orders and processing of ordered tests and procedures, from admission through discharge, utilizing current I.S. system when indicated.
  • Manages the unit’s communication systems (phones, Vocera’s, patient throughput via Tele-tracking system, RTLS tags, Responder, patient call bells, fax, etc.), to facilitate communication between members of the health care team and their clients, when applicable.
  • Responds to the patient call system, contacts nursing personnel as appropriate
  • Participates in performance and support improvement and risk management
  • Orders and maintains department office supplies and documentation for patient care
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with established standard of care.
    Complies with hospital attendance policy and department staffing policy and rotations and office use.
