12 Hour Shifts, Nights/Weekends Schedule (Subject to Change)
Location: Lakeridge Health Oshawa
Wage Schedule: $43.190 - $60.120 per hour

This position is open to all qualified ONA staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 3 July 2025 and closing at 11:59 pm on 10 July 2025.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
  • Current BCLS, ACLS with Medical Directives, PALS required;
  • Recent & related Charge Nurse Experience required (must be within the last 2-3 years);
  • Proven experience with staff scheduling (ONA and CUPE), patient flow and patient assignments;
  • Significant recent experience in Emergency/Critical Care/Intensive Care/Cardiopulmonary nursing;
  • Proven cardiac rhythm interpretation and patient assessment skills;
  • Demonstrated ventilator and haemodynamic monitoring, ECG interpretation, trauma nursing skills;
  • Successful completion of CNA Emergency Nursing Certification (ENC(C) or Critical Care Certification (CCRN(C), preferred;
  • Demonstrated leadership, teaching and mentorship skills;
  • Effective organizational; planning; prioritization and time management skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with multiple competing demands with ability to maintain composure in stressful situations;
  • Demonstrated problem solving; critical thinking and decision making skills;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills that enables you to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community;
  • Proven ability to work well independently;
  • Proven knowledge and experience with staffing, patient flow and patient assignments;
  • B.Sc.N, preferred;
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public;
  • Must have satisfactory performance record;

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Unit Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of patient care, coordination of nursing staff and resources on all shifts, facilitating patient flow, maintaining data accountability and acting as a steward for developing and facilitating the family-centered care approach within the Emergency Department.
