  • The Unit Manager will be responsible for overseeing all licensed staff as well as certified nursing assistants on their assigned Units. They will review work schedules/assignments, assign tasks as per employee scope and job description, evaluate job performance and provide disciplinary actions. The Unit Manager will set goals and standards for the Unit and may conduct meetings with their staff to align the direction and pace of the Unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a licensed LPN/ RN in the State Of Ohio
  • Experience in Long term Care/ Skilled/ Sub-Acute Care as it relates to the Unit in question.
  • At least 1 year of managerial experience desired

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Evidence-based practice and standards of care
  • Effective oral and written skills
  • Critical thinking and judgement to evaluate resident/patient care needs
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate nursing activities and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance to nurses.
  • Assist with education and training of staff
  • Monitor unit for resident/patient quality of care
  • Apply evidence-based healthcare practices and nursing standards
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents/patients, friends and family
  • Maintains documentation of resident/patient care services by auditing records
  • Maintains nursing guidelines by adhering to facility policies and procedures
  • Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing programs
  • Assures adherence to standards of care and state board of nursing policies as well as the state nurse practice act.
  • Monitors health outcomes and provides resolutions to untoward events
  • Fosters the “team approach” philosophy on the unit.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops as per recommendations and requirements.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among healthcare team members by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation established by the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Ensures unit has supplies or orders supplies through the central supply coordinator
  • Reviews the attendance/tardy records of each employee as provided by the staffing coordinator.
  • Reviews resident/patient data to measure the effectiveness of resident/patient care.
  • Participate in the QAPI program and Infection Prevention program
  • Coordinate physician contact regarding change in conditions, consulting doctor recommendations, diagnostic tests results, incidents/accidents, pharmacy and dietary recommendations
  • Actively participate in monthly nurse staff meetings
  • Coordinate daily rounds on unit
  • Ensure MARS and TARS are reviewed daily for any errors or issues
  • Monitor lunch/break activity on the unit
  • Ensures care plans are completed in accordance with facility policy and procedure
  • Conduct random observations of employee performance.
  • Ensure resident/patient and family concerns are addressed in a timely manner
  • Complete any other task that has been assigned by the Director of Clinical Services or designee that is within job scope and description.
  • Practices and adheres to Infection control policies
