Your Role at St John of God Geelong Hospital Be the friendly face of our Emergency Department, we are seeking a reliable, skilled, and welcoming Unit Receptionists to join our busy Emergency Department on a permanent or casual basis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and enjoys being the first point of contact for patients, families, and clinicians. You will act as the first point of contact for patients, families, and clinicians, providing a professional and supportive service. Shift information: Permanent role – 30 hours per week, rostered across a 24/7 schedule Casual opportunity also available Monday to Saturday, as required The successful applicant must be flexible and available to cover annual and sick leave across weekdays and Saturdays. The Position Welcoming and assisting patients and visitors. Managing appointments and maintaining an efficient waiting room. Acting as the first point of contact for the service. Answering telephone calls promptly and professionally. Providing high-level secretarial and administrative support. Supporting clinicians and allied health professionals. Liaising with hospitals, referrers, and other healthcare providers. Efficient and confidential management of patient data, appointments, procedures, clinical files, correspondence, and accounts. Managing incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and faxes. Maintenance of patient records and files. Additional administrative duties as required. You will have knowledge of medical terminology and experience in the health industry is a must and ability to deliver exceptional customer service. To succeed you will provide an outstanding level of customer service both face-to-face and via telephone, supporting families during an important and sensitive time in their care journey. and demonstrate ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
