Description PURPOSE STATEMENT The Unit Secretary is non-licensed person who performs clerical unit tasks in Diagnostic Imaging as requested. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform clerical/reception duties in the Radiology Department. Answer telephone; take and relay messages. Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality. Greet and direct patients. Understanding of Hospital Information System. Understanding of the Radiology Information System. Understanding of PACS system. Able to schedule patients. Able to explain preps to patients. Understanding of HIPPA guidelines. Able to make CDs of patient's images. Able to send images to both cloud systems. Assist in care and maintenance of departmental equipment. Attend in service and other meetings as required. Attendance of 50% of all department meetings is required. Must adhere to hospital dress code. Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent. Typing and filing skills are desired. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 12 hours a day. Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard. Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines. Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing. Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition. Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs. Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
Responsibilities
Perform clerical and reception duties within the Diagnostic Imaging department, including answering phones and greeting patients. Manage patient scheduling, image distribution via CDs and cloud systems, and maintain departmental records.
