QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in criminal justice, the social sciences, or the behavioral sciences.
Licensing & Certification: Have a valid driver’s license.
Minimum Qualifications: One (1) year of experience in the field of adult/juvenile corrections or case management in social services.
Preferred Qualifications: Have three (3) years of experience in the field of adult or juvenile corrections or case management in social services. Have experience in preparing release plans for residents leaving correctional facilities and networking with resources to access those resources for a high-risk population. Knowledge of office equipment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING FOR UNIT TEAM SUPERVISOR CLASSIFICATIONS:

  • Manages a caseload of assigned residents. Assists residents with adjustment to incarceration, program completion, rule compliance, release planning, and reintegration into the community. Utilizes and demonstrates proficiency in risk reduction skills including motivational interviewing and cognitive strategies.
  • Consults with other unit team staff, work detail supervisors, program staff, and security staff in preparation of residents’ reviews, Reentry Plans, and work release/pre-release applications. Formulates recommendations to supervisor personnel consistent with residents’ program needs and custody. Ensures program placement when appropriate.
  • Maintains electronic residents’ files with timely and accurate documentation in ATHENA and the Offender Management Information System (OMIS). Residents’ needs are assessed using Reception and Diagnostic Unit (RDU) evaluations, LSI-R scores, and program treatment summaries.
  • Assists the Unit Team Manager in ensuring policy and procedures are being followed in the living unit. Assists the Unit Team Manager in making various inspections of the living unit and ensuring any deficiencies are corrected. Serves as the Unit Team Manager in his/her absence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING FOR IPO UNIT TEAM SUPERVISOR:

  • Maintain a list of upcoming scheduled releases; review the release on a regular basis; identify high risk residents and make recommendations about strategies to address the risk/need of these residents; establish a method for tracking releases; and communicate with unit team to ensure that release and reentry plans are prepared for residents scheduled for release.
  • Coordinate release and reentry planning with various specialized programs and positions (e.g., reentry, discharge planner, victim services, interstate compact, etc.) and assist unit team and residents in applying for services through those programs and services.
  • Conducting reentry interviews, particularly on high-risk residents; working with residents who are preparing to see the parole board to ensure they have a release plan in place; following up on resource issues with community providers and parole; addressing special needs of residents, such as mental health treatment needs, medication, housing, financial, identification, and so forth.
  • Maintain records and information about the status and progress of release and reentry plans as appropriate and necessary; maintain electronic tracking system reflecting status and progress of release and reentry plans; maintain and provide statistical information as requested by Director of Reentry and facility.
