The University of Klagenfurt is pleased to announce the following open position at the Department of Economics (Quantitative Economics Division) at the Faculty of Management, Economics & Law, to be filled at the earliest possible date, but not later than October 1, 2025:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or master’s degree in economics or a related field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, econometrics or similar, including also related engineering programs, with a strong formal background) at a higher education institution
  • Good academic record
  • Good knowledge in at least one of the fields data analysis, quantitative economics, econometrics and/or statistics
  • Some (preferably strong) experience in scientific programming (e.g., Python, R or MATLAB)
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

DESIRED SKILLS

  • First experiences in academic teaching and research
  • First experiences in quantitative economics or similar fields
  • Dedication to research in economics, econometrics or quantitative economics; preferably documented by first research results in, e.g., the master thesis or first publications
  • Social and communication competences, interest in and ability to work in teams
  • Strong motivation and output orientation
  • Ability to work independently in (scientific) projects with a focus on high quality and precision
  • Very good knowledge of German (level C1-C2)
Responsibilities
  • Independent research with the aim of submitting a dissertation in economics, econometrics or quantitative economics and acquiring a doctoral degree
  • Contribution to departmental research and teaching projects
  • Independent teaching in German and in English and supervision of students
  • Adequate participation in the administrative tasks and responsibilities of the department
  • Participation in university committees, in university self-governance and in public relations activities of the departmen
