  • Strong ability to analyze technical requirements and align them with research and engineering goals.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  • Five (5) years of experience in IT project management, software engineering, or systems integration, with a focus on scientific or research-based computing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in whole-cell modeling, systems biology, or computational biophysics.
  • Knowledge of high-throughput biological data analysis and integration.
  • Familiarity with experimental data repositories (EDD, EcoCyc) and interoperability standards.
  • Proficiency in developing interactive visualization tools for biological modeling.
  • Experience working on government-funded research projects (e.g., DARPA, NIH, NSF-funded initiatives).
  • Project Management Professional certification, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or experience in agile software development is preferred.
    Full-Time Equivalent Minimum Salary: $150,000
Responsibilities
  • Leads and manages the development of Vivarium; a modular, multiscale simulation software framework for whole-cell modeling.
  • Oversees software architecture and implementation, ensuring compatibility with omics, physiological, and population-scale models.
  • Coordinates collaborations with software developers, data scientists, computational biologists, and external research partners (e.g., DARPA, IV&V partners, and EcoCyc developers).
  • Guides the integration of modular biological processes, allowing for seamless incorporation of mechanistic, AI/ML, and probabilistic models into a unified simulation framework.
  • Implements flexible deployment options, supporting local execution, HPC deployment, and secure cloud-hosted API configurations.
  • Develops smart notebooks and custom interfaces that allow users to configure, execute, and analyze simulations for biomanufacturing and antibiotic resistance applications.
  • Ensures that all projects adhere to best practices in software development, regulatory compliance (HIPAA, CUI standards), and FAIR data principles.
  • Provides documentation, user training, and technical support to facilitate widespread adoption and effective use of the platform.
