Line Manager: Senior Health & Safety Adviser   The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University of Edinburgh’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing Department as our Health & Safety (First Aid) Trainer. We are looking for a dynamic individual who has extensive experience providing first aid training, as well as some experience of other health and safety courses. The University has a cohort of c700 First Aiders, Emergency First Aiders and AED/Appointed Persons, with this post holder managing the training schedule (with support from administrative staff), as well as developing other health and safety course materials. The Information Security Division provides strategic ownership and leadership of the information security posture for the University. The Division helps College and Support Group staff identify and mitigate internal and external threats to IT facilities and business critical information and is responsible for providing advice on strategic current and emerging information security threats.  We provide risk based advice to key strategic change activity being undertaken across the University to ensure that required controls are identified, costed and resourced to ensure that the information security risk profile of the University is not adversely impacted. We own, manage and develop the University’s information security governance framework, including the policies, procedures and control measures needed to ensure that the University’s risk appetite is maintained. Management reporting is driven through the University information governance structure, with the Division being responsible for pan-University information security working groups and oversight of related information security activity. We work in conjunction with internal departments and external stakeholders to increase user awareness and understanding of the information security threat landscape and help identify appropriate countermeasures. We undertake ongoing reviews of available training and awareness methods to provide effective, engaging and timely learning options.
Responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for delivering and managing the training schedule for approximately 700 first aiders and emergency responders. They will also develop health and safety course materials and ensure compliance with national standards.
