REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a university degree in economics or
a related field
Doctorate, preferably at the interface between economics
and applied econometrics
Full-time employment for at least two years and six months
after successful completion of a university degree
Active research activity, evidenced by relevant publications
and/or projects related to economics and empirical economic
research
Experience in university teaching
very good German language skills for teaching courses, su-
pervision of students and participation in academic self-ad-
ministration
Advantageous properties:
Good methodological knowledge in empirical research, e.g.,
panel econometrics, quasi-experimental identification strategies
for policy evaluation, or spatial statistics an econometrics
Good knowledge of statistical software (e.g. STATA, R, Python)
and confident handling of quantitative date sets (e.g. official sta-
tistics, microdata, panel data)
Good English skills, especially in scientific communication and for
conducting English-language courses
Experience in supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses
Experience in digital teaching, program development and curric-
ular innovation

The successful candidate will be involved in teaching activities of
the Working Group Economics (AG Ökonomie) in bachelor and
master programs of the University of Koblenz. A focus is set on
the following subject areas:
Fundamentals of economics
Economic policy and institutional economics
International economics
In addition, the job holder is expected to actively participate in
the design and implementation of new courses planned by the
AG Ökonomie in the areas of empirical economic research and
econometrics, innovation economics, as well as urban and re-
gional economics. The supervision of students and de admin-
istration of examinations in all degree programs in the field of
management and economics are an integral part of the job. In
addition, the job holder has to engage in administrative tasks,
participate in academic self-administration, and collaborate with
other faculty members. It is further expected that the job holder
has a strong interest in acquiring third-party funding, an active
participation in research projects and publication of research re-
sults from the AG Ökonomie. The teaching load is 16 semester
hours a week. The position is generally suitable for part-time em-
ployment, provided that there are no compelling official reasons
to the contrary.
