Description
Lake Superior Consulting is seeking to hire an Unlocatable Lead in one of the following locations: St. Paul, Cottage Grove, Hastings, Rosemount, Apple Valley, South St. Paul, Woodbury, Lakeland, Afton, Eagan, Castle Rock, Farmington, Empire, Burnsville, Bloomington and surrounding areas. This individual will be responsible for accurately locating and marking cables, pipes, and other conduits that carry utilities underground. Lead the unlocatable team from start to end of each ticket requiring the unlocatable process. Ensuring equipment and consumables are available for the team as needed and tracking work as well as operating costs for 3rd party contractors.    Responsibilities:  Respond to locate requests within legal time limit  Own workflow with unlocatable team  Ensure all equipment and consumable needs for team  Work with internal crews as well as external contractors to ensure ticket completion  Mark found utilities using proper coloring system (APWA marking standards)  Read and interpret utility maps/prints to identify the size and type of underground utility  Complete required paperwork for locates and line crossings/excavations  Work safely by adhering to LSC and client guidelines and procedures  Communicate work scopes and responsibilities amongst project specific field-based teams  Complete and maintain operator qualifications (OQs)  Operate and use electronic locating equipment  Gather data, prepare records and reports in a timely manner  Perform daily safety meetings and submit daily report documentations  Generate and gather equipment for kickoffs of projects  Ensure your work is utilized with respect to company goals  Document and report any incidents, near misses, and opportunities for improvement  Work in compliance with all technical procedures and guidelines  Assist the unlocatable lead in the unlocatable process  Utilize hand tools/Hydro-vac to troubleshoot unlocatable buried facilities  Properly document work done to show measurements for future use  Work with third party contractors to find buried lines    Position Requirements:  High School Diploma   5 years of utility locating experience preferred  3+ years of utility identification preferred (Installation, hydrovac, repair)  At least 1 year of leadership experience preferred  Valid Driver’s License required  Ability to travel and work in an outdoor environment  Capability to operate a company vehicle and use general hand/power tools  Must have strong critical thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities  Commitment to working safely and producing high quality, ethical service  Good organizational skills and detail oriented  Highly motivated and thrives in a dynamic, team-based and individual environment  Professional verbal and written communication skills.   Comfortable with Microsoft Office programs  Availability to participate in on-call rotation    Physical Requirements and Demands:  Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment, as required  Ability to traverse rugged terrain, excavations and work around pipe and equipment, as required  Must be able to travel to offsite locations for extended periods of time  Frequent periods of standing for long periods  Occasional lifting of up to 50 lb.  Exposure to all types of weather and terrain  Ability to work long hours for extended periods, when projects demand  Ability to sit at a desk and work with a computer for extended periods    Be Part of Something Bigger – Join the Team at Lake Superior Consulting! The anticipated range for this position is $24 – $28 per hour. Responsibilities
