    A leading Sydney-based animation studio is seeking an experienced Unreal Engine Technical Director to drive the development and optimization of real-time workflows for high-end animation production. This is a key role for an innovative and highly creative team, offering the opportunity to shape real-time animation pipelines and push the boundaries of Unreal Engine in storytelling.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in real-time production, animation, VFX, or game development.
  • Expertise in Unreal Engine, including Blueprints, Sequencer, and real-time rendering techniques.
  • Strong understanding of shading, lighting, optimization, and performance profiling in Unreal Engine.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, or Unreal Engine scripting for tool development and automation.
  • Experience integrating Unreal Engine into animation or VFX pipelines.
  • Knowledge of motion capture, virtual production, or procedural animation is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience mentoring artists and technical teams.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Unreal Engine Technical Director, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing real-time production workflows. You will collaborate closely with artists, technical directors, and developers to integrate Unreal Engine into the animation pipeline, ensuring a seamless and efficient production process. This role requires both technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to mentor and guide a team of Unreal Engine specialists.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the integration and development of Unreal Engine workflows for animation production.
  • Work closely with directors, artists, and technical teams to optimize real-time rendering, lighting, and asset workflows.
  • Develop custom tools and scripts to enhance the efficiency of real-time production pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to real-time rendering, performance optimization, and asset integration.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Unreal Engine advancements, identifying opportunities to improve production quality and efficiency.
  • Mentor and support a team of Unreal Engine artists and developers.
  • Collaborate with IT and pipeline teams to ensure seamless data flow and asset management.
