JOB SUMMARY: To complete bench upholstery, sewing machine and upholstery cutting operations using a wide variety of upholstery materials and tools. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Works under general supervision to fabricate, cover, and assemble flat and curved panels. Sew simple covers and curtains using design/engineering drawings and aircrafts specifications. Work with fabric, vinyl, and leather hides, composites, and other materials using specified adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools, and various power tools. Fit panels and windows, cabin head liners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, windows, cut and surge carpets, cover bulkheads and coverings. Uses a variety of hand and power tools/equipment and basic measuring instruments. Ability to read and write to interpret basic drawings. Ability to work from detailed instructions and minor decision making. Performs other related duties. EDUCATION: Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification and Textron Aviation's blueprint reading class preferred. EXPERIENCE: 0-6 months experience in upholstery, bench upholstery, and/or mechanical experience. WORKING CONDITIONS: Somewhat disagreeable working conditions with exposure to dust, noise, heat, fumes, and liquids. Safety shoes and protective clothing could be required.
