SUMMARY

Hathaway Brown School seeks a full-time Upper School Art Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. Ideal candidates will possess upper school teaching experience and be well-versed in multiple areas of art, including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, digital/analog photography, graphic design, and other visual arts media. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s of Arts, Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, or Bachelor’s in Arts Education
  • Experience teaching at the Middle and/or Upper School level
  • Work as a practicing artist

Responsibilities
  • Teach five classes, which may include: Studio Art Survey, an introductory course to high school visual arts in various media, and/or other advanced art courses as needed,
  • Assist with the production and design of the yearbook.
  • Serve as a mentor to approximately ten students (academic counseling, community building, parent communication, conferencing, etc.).
  • Maintain a well-organized and safe learning environment in the art studios..
  • Help to manage a budget and order materials and supplies in a responsible and cost-efficient manner.
  • Curate and display student art throughout the building.
  • Be an active member of the faculty, attending faculty meetings and in-service days, and being an active member of the Visual Arts Department.
  • Effectively use technology to support curriculum and administrative responsibilities.
