WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR  Bosque School is seeking an Upper School Counselor for an immediate opening. The Upper School Counselor works proactively and collaboratively with the Upper School Administration and the Student Support Team to promote and support student health and well-being at Bosque. The Counselor provides direct counseling services to students in times of crisis and to support their social and emotional health at school, in coordination with school staff, families, and outside medical providers, as needed. The Counselor works under the supervision of the Upper School Division Head, and also in partnership with Middle School Counselor, and may add additional support to middle school students and programming as needed. While we seek a full time counselor, we would be open to hiring a part-time counselor with the goal of growing into a full time role in the future, if needed  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  ● Develop, implement, and support mental health and wellness programs in collaboration with other members of the Student Support Team  ● Provide direct services to students through programs, classes, preventative activities, and individual and group counseling.  ● In collaboration with the Learning Specialist, School Nurse, classroom teachers, and other core student support staffulty and administrators, develop and oversee mental health-related accommodation plans. ● Provide emergency and sustained counseling support to students as needed, including after-hours crisis communications and/or management in partnership with school administration.  ● In coordination with the relevant Student Support Team members, proactively identify and address behaviors that may be interfering with student well-being.  ● Support in the development of relevant content for advisory programming related to topics such as health and wellness.  ● Collaborate with WILLDS (Wellness Identity Leadership Life Skills Diversity and Service) Educators when needed regarding Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and health classes connected to the WILLDS curriculum.  ● Work with colleagues to establish, maintain, and communicate mental and emotional health protocols for students.  ● Conduct faculty, staff, and student training on mental health, wellness, and abuse prevention for students. ● Assist faculty and other school personnel in developing appropriate interventions and programs to help students achieve success at school.  ● Oversee any suicide-prevention and grief programming in the division, including in WILLDS, advisory, morning meeting, and other potential venues, and collaborate with the WILLDS team, deans, potential student groups, and others divisional staffulty, including “pushing in” to classes where relevant, and at other times helping support other staffulty in doing so, as is advisable. Additionally, work with the WILLDS team to identify and liaise with potential outside providers of education and support in these areas (such as Agora, the Grief Center, etc).  ● In coordination with the Upper School Head and Head of School, serve as a point person for potential mandatory or discretionary reporting to Child Youth and Families Division and/or law enforcement. ● Expand and maintain a network of mental health professionals, and refer students and their families to appropriate outside professionals for medical or social services, when necessary.  ● Apply ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school counseling and support services and observe relevant laws and policies that govern practice.  ● Maintain student records pertaining to counseling services, confidential school records, records of services provided, and behavioral data.  ● Provide parent communication and education to support through regular and timely personal communication and formal parent education/workshops.  ● Support the Admission Office by reviewing student files and conducting conversations with outside mental health professionals as needed during the admission process, often in coordination with school Learning Specialists.  ● Model a growth mindset and engage enthusiastically in our robust annual professional development program.  ● Take part in professional organizations and continually seek to improve professional knowledge and skills. ● In and outside of the classroom/office, model a commitment and growth mindset towards manifesting Bosque’s mission, core values, and Equity, Community and Culture Principles and Best Practices. ● In coordination with Division Head, engage in campus duty assignments, such as chaperoning a dance, monitoring tests (PreACT, PSAT when offered on campus), and other school-wide or grade-level activities when needed.  ● Other duties as assigned by the Division Head and Head of School.  QUALIFICATIONS  ● Bachelor’s degree required.  ● Must possess a professional license in School Counseling or another relevant area: LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor), LPCC (Licensed Professional Counselor) or equivalent.  ● Five years of directly related experience in a school or clinical setting preferred  ● Experience and commitment to working with culturally diverse students, families, and colleagues and contributing to building and maintaining an inclusive community  ● Engaging interpersonal skills and strong speaking and writing skills.  ● Effective skills in working with groups  ● Collaborative working style and strong work ethic  ● Ability to engage with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism. ● Experienced with the needs of secondary school-age students and their families  ● Teaching and curriculum development experience a plus  ● Discretion and respect for confidentiality
