Description Reports to: Upper School Principal Length of Contract: 10 month Summary: The Upper School Science Teacher is responsible for providing students in grades 9–12 with engaging, rigorous, and Christ-centered instruction in the sciences. This teacher cultivates a classroom environment that supports students’ spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and social growth while equipping them with the scientific knowledge, critical-thinking skills, and ethical foundation necessary to thrive in college, career, and life. Responsibilities: Create and maintain a positive, structured, and Christ-centered classroom environment consistent with the mission and values of Fort Worth Christian. Teach upper school science courses (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, or other assigned disciplines) using a variety of engaging, inquiry-based instructional practices, including laboratory investigations, project-based learning, discussion, lecture, and collaborative learning. Integrate Christian worldview principles into science instruction, connecting learning to Faith Standards and emphasizing the relationship between faith and scientific understanding. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with FWC curriculum, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and college-preparatory expectations. Design and conduct safe, effective laboratory experiences that promote critical thinking and hands-on learning. Establish and maintain high standards of student behavior to ensure a respectful, productive learning environment. Assess and monitor students’ academic progress through formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records of grades and performance. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents through conferences, email, and other school-approved communication platforms. Provide academic support and mentorship to students, modeling Christian character and leadership. Supervise students in non-classroom settings, including study halls, chapel services, assemblies, field trips, and other school activities. Sponsor or support student organizations, extracurricular activities, or service initiatives as assigned. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and committee work as assigned. Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Upper School Principal. Requirements Qualifications: A clear and demonstrated commitment to Jesus Christ and to living a life consistent with the Fort Worth Christian Statement of Faith. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Science or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
